We do not know whether time travel will be possible one day, but currently science sees it remaining more fiction than fact.
In the virtual world, time travel is already possible under certain conditions. First you simply have tp capture important information over the lifetime of a project and save it in chronological order, later you can jump to previous events on that timeline and retrieve the information.
That’s the theory, but in practice it’s all a bit more complicated. In order for this to be achieved with minimal user effort, we have integrated a timeline feature in our FRAMENCE software. In addition to the images‘ geometric position and other associated information, each image is automatically located on a timeline and remains there as long as the data is retained.
The high-resolution, panoramic images from FRAMENCE are ideal to simplify the documentation of the complex environments found in buildings and technical installations. There is no need for the user to label or filter any information, everything that is visible is simply recorded. Due to the dimensional accuracy of the images, dimensions can be determined at any time without the need to manually create 3D models beforehand.
Later, one can return to any given past moment and assess situations that have long since changed. The panoramic images are recorded at each construction stage to capture important events for later retrieval. Of course, this capture may take this takes place in irregular intervals – basically whenever something interesting happens. Special skills are not required for the capture; a brief introduction to the standard photo equipment is sufficient.
The further processing of the images is carried out by our AI-supported adjustment algorithms. These complex processes automatically calculate the precise origin of the photo (i.e. where the camera was located at the time of capture) and then locates the images in our 3D-coordinate system. Further the images are positioned on a timeline according to their individual time stamp. Thereby the photorealistic digital twins are automatically created.
It is very beneficial not to stop with the documentation once the operational phase of an asset starts, but much rather keep on documenting over the entire lifecycle. This provides you a “graphical archive” for the building or plant, which will prove to be extremely helpful and, with time, indispensable for both operational processes and during planning procedures.
Due to the ease of use and the low costs associated with data capture, FRAMENCE is the economical solution for most use cases.
